Botox

Botox is used to treat fine lines in the face, especially around the eyes, forehead and brow. It works by temporarily weakening the muscles responsible for facial expression lines that occur due to muscle activity. It will soften but not remove static facial lines, such as those caused by skin damage due to sun exposure or smoking.

The painless injection is performed in the clinic using an ultra-fine needle. It takes a few seconds to perform the treatment, then you are able to go home. It takes 2-3 days for any improvement to be seen and the full effect may take up to 7 days to occur. The effect should last for about three to six months, but everyone is different. As the results are temporary, repeated treatments are required to maintain the effect.

A facelift aims to improve the visible signs of facial aging that are due to gravity, such as jowls and loose neck skin. The objective is to create a natural, fresh appearance to the face and jowl area by tightening the tissues under the skin and removing any unwanted fat. It commonly is combined with a brow lift, eyelid surgery and neck liposuction to achieve a harmonious appearance to the face. It does not address the fine lines caused by sun damage to the skin of the face, skin rejuvenation therapies that address this aspect can be a great complement to provide a more holistic facial rejuvenation.

A facelift and neck lift is performed through an incision in or near the hairline, just inside the cartilage of the ear and then behind the ear and into the hair behind the ear. This allows access to suture a fibrous-muscle layer (SMAS) under the skin in order to tighten it and create a sling that aims to lift the jowls and neck to restore the jawline contour. The skin is redraped and meticulously sutured back into place to leave a hidden scar without an unnaturally ‘tight’ appearance. It is performed under a general anesthetic and as this advanced procedure is precise and time-consuming it will require an overnight stay in hospital. Smaller facelifts (mini-facelifts/MACS lift) can be performed as day case surgery in selected cases.
